Appraisals

Allison’s Fine Jewelry offers full appraisal services that can be performed while you browse the store. Allison is a GIA-certified jeweler and is fully trained in conducting appraisals that have to do with insurance coverage, estate distribution, fair market value estimation, or when determining the value of a donation or gift.

The most common appraisal is an Insurance Appraisal, which is a document one provides to their insurance company for the purpose of replacing or repairing an item of jewelry in the event it is lost, stolen or damaged. Most insurance companies recommend that you have your jewelry appraisal reports updated every three to five years. If you wish to have your jewelry appraised or need more information, stop in or give us a call at 304-599-8080.

Other appraisal services we offer are for bankruptcy, barter, collateral, comparison, damage, divorce, donation, estate, hypothetical, and liquidation purposes. The value assigned to jewelry can vary depending on the function of the appraisal or report, so it is essential to establish your appraisal needs with the appraiser.

So, how does an appraisal work? Just stop in the store or make an appointment. We’ll take a look at your jewelry through our Gemscope while we make notes and perform a thorough evaluation. Once the appraisal is complete, you will receive documentation with a detailed description of your item, along with an explanation of value.
